Shirak شیرک - سگ گله نواحی کردنشین ایران 
I did not know about this breed (if it's realy a separated breed) untill last 1999. I heard about this dog when on of my friends just saw the picture above and told me that this dog is a "Shirak". He saw this kind of shepherd dog about 15 years ago when he served in Iranian army in the area of Sanandaj (Kurdestan). Shirak means little lion and the local Kurdish people call these dogs Shirak because this big dog has a face like lion !!!. As I said before, till know I'm not 100% sure that Shirak is a special breed or another sub-breed of Iranian dogs (like Caucasian, Ashayeri or C.A.O dogs) that has different name which gaved it the local shepherds. We looking for more information and photos about "Shirak" dogs in Iran.
